Steady Improvement Fuels a Stronger Finish Byron West closed out the 2026 Spudman Sprint Triathlon in 1:33:55, shaving a full minute off his 2025 time and climbing from 70th to 27th overall. His swim (18:42) put him solidly in the middle of the field, but it was the bike leg where he made his biggest moveriding at roughly 17.2 mph and jumping from 81st to 27th in his gender group by the dismount line. Quick transitions, including a 1:45 T2, helped him carry that momentum into the run. The run leg saw him hold steady, finishing 22nd among men and 5th in the 40-49 divisionup from 11th last year. Byrons consistent gains across both bike and run point to solid overall fitness, with the bike split standing out as this years clear strength.
