Blistering Bike Split Powers a Top-Five Finish David Griffin delivered a strong showing at the 2026 Spudman Sprint Triathlon, crossing the line 5th overall out of 570 athletes and taking 2nd in the competitive men's 30-39 division. After a steady swim leg, he moved efficiently through T1 and used the bike course to make his biggest statement of the day, climbing steadily through the field with every mile. His bike leg averaged nearly 23.8 mph, vaulting him from 61st position after the swim to 2nd among all male cyclists by the dismount line. He backed that effort with the second-fastest T2 in the entire race, then held strong on the run to lock in a top-five overall finish a clear step up in bike strength compared to his 2025 Olympic-distance outing at Spudman.
