Steady Effort Marked by a Slightly Slower Finish Than Last Year Michael Gibbons completed the Olympic distance course in 3:16:46, finishing 648th among men and 51st in the 45-49 age division out of 1,987 participants. He exited the swim in 24:46, then posted a strong bike leg, covering the bike course at an average speed of roughly 16.4 mph over 1:29:23. His run split of 1:15:14 rounded out a well-balanced overall effort. Compared to his 2025 Spudman performance, where he finished in 3:02:22, this year's result was about 14 minutes slower, with pace shifting from 5:45/mile to 6:13/mile. Transition times were efficient, with a swift T2 of just 2:28. Looking ahead, Michael might focus on tightening his swim-to-bike efficiency and finding ways to close the gap on last year's faster pace, particularly in the run segment.
