Bike Strength Fuels a Mid-Race Surge, But the Run Erodes the Gains Aubree Searle's 2026 Spudman performance was defined by a standout bike leg. After a swim that placed her mid-pack, she surged into the top 10 of her division by the back half of the bike course, hitting split paces near 3:00/mile (roughly 20 mph) and climbing as high as 6th in her age group. That bike split translated to an overall average of nearly 17.8 mph across the leg clearly her strongest discipline of the day. The run told a different story. Splits progressively slowed from a 10:23 opening mile to over 12:00 by the final stretch, and her division rank slid from 6th off the bike back to 17th by the finish. Her overall time of 3:07:22 marks her slowest Spudman finish across five appearances (20222026), a noticeable step back from her 2023 best of 2:36:41. Sharpening run durability off the bike could help her reclaim the positions she's built through her cycling strength.
