Bike Surges Punctuate a Solid Olympic Effort Isaac Painter turned in a well-rounded Olympic-distance performance at Spudman, averaging roughly 14.8 mph on the bike leg. Two standout surges stood out: a burst that pushed him to 186th in his gender group, and another mid-course push that landed him 212th overall both signs of strong power output on rolling terrain. His swim and transitions were efficient, keeping him in the middle of the field before the bike work paid dividends. Compared to his 2025 Spudman finish, this year's time was about 18 minutes slower, with his run pace easing in the closing miles as fatigue set in. Still, his mid-race bike surges show real strength to build from sharpening run consistency in the final third could help him close the gap to last year's faster overall time.
