A Strong Bike Leg Fuels a Battle Against a Late Fade Richie Lee completed the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon in 3:09:23, finishing 685th overall out of 1,987 athletes and 93rd in the competitive 35-39 age group. This result trails his 2023 Spudman finish of 2:59:46, showing a gap of roughly 9 minutes between the two performances. The bike leg was a clear strength, covering the course at an average of about 15.3 mph, with one stretch (B2) surging to nearly 20 mph before settling into a more moderate rhythm. The swim was steady at 24:49, and transitions were crisp, especially T2 at just over two minutes. The run, however, told a different storystarting strong at a 9:32 pace before drifting past 10:30 in the closing miles. Sharpening run endurance to hold that early pace could help close the gap to his faster 2023 time.
