Consistent Pacing Anchors a Steady Olympic-Distance Effort Bret finished the Olympic Triathlon in 3:55:46, placing 933rd among men and 34th in the 40+ Clydesdale division. His bike leg was a highlight, averaging roughly 12.8 mph across the course, including a strong mid-ride surge near 14.3 mph. The run showed excellent consistency, holding close to a 13:30-per-mile rhythm across nearly every checkpoint, a good sign of pacing discipline over the closing miles. Transitions stand out as the main opportunity for improvementboth T1 and T2 took close to seven minutes each, noticeably longer than the flow of his swim, bike, and run efforts suggests was needed. Tightening those exchanges could shave meaningful time off the overall result without any added fitness. Altogether, a well-paced race defined by strong bike power and steady, reliable running form.
