A Steady Finish with Room to Rebuild Bike Speed Michael McCabe completed the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon in 3:39:32, finishing 841st among men and 104th in his 30-34 division. His swim was efficient at 23:04, and he moved through T1 in just 5:57. On the bike, he averaged roughly 13.6 mph over the 24.5-mile course, completing the ride in 1:48:09, then transitioned quickly again in T2 with a 4:26 split. His run leg came in at 1:17:57, showing solid endurance to close out the race. Compared to his 2025 Spudman performance, where he finished in 3:22:39, this year's time was about 17 minutes slower. The biggest shift came on the bike and run legs, suggesting an opportunity to focus on rebuilding bike speed and maintaining run consistency in future training cycles. Transitions remained a strength, with both T1 and T2 times reflecting sharp, efficient execution.
