A Fast Start Fades Late as the Run Slips Away Chase opened his day with a strong swim, exiting the water in 21:16 and vaulting into 307th overall and 246th among menan encouraging sign of early-race sharpness. T1 was brisk, and the bike leg showed real strength in stretches: one mid-ride segment saw him climb to 31st in his 35-39 division, and his overall bike split averaged roughly 15.5 mph across the 24-mile Olympic course. That surge wasn't sustained, though, as later bike splits saw him slide back into the 400s and 500s in gender placement, pointing to some pacing volatility over the ride. The run proved the toughest chapter. After exiting T2 in 100th within his division, Chase steadily lost ground through the 10K, dropping to 103rd and eventually finishing 110th in his age group. He crossed the line in 3:23:07, placing 927th overall out of 1,987 finishers. Building a more even run effort could unlock meaningful gains in his next race.
