Strong Bike Leg Fuels a Top-10 Age Group Finish Paul turned in a well-rounded Olympic-distance performance, finishing 159th overall out of 1,987 athletes and 9th in the competitive 45-49 age group. His swim was steady and efficient, setting up a bike leg that stood out as the highlight of the daycovering the course at an average of roughly 17.4 mph, a pace that moved him into the top 15% of the entire field at multiple checkpoints. Off the bike, Paul maintained solid form through the run, holding a pace in the 7:20-8:10 per mile range across the four run splits. Transitions were crisp, with T1 and T2 combined taking just over seven minutes. For future races, tightening the run pacing in the middle miles could help him close the gap on his division's top finishers, but this was a strong, balanced result overall.
