Strong Bike Leg Powers a Steady Podium Push Layne Argyle turned in another impressive Spudman Olympic performance, finishing in 2:26:50 and placing 4th in the competitive 50-54 age group. His swim was solid, exiting the water in the top 65 overall, but it was the bike leg that truly stood outaveraging roughly 22.8 mph over the 23.26-mile course, good enough for 22nd overall and 3rd in his division. Transitions were crisp as well, with both T1 and T2 ranking among the fastest in his age group. The run proved more challenging relative to his bike pace, settling into the low-to-mid 9-minute mile range as the effort wore on. Still, Layne's overall trajectory at Spudman continues to trend upward: from 9th in his division in 2024, to 5th in 2025, and now 4th this year. Continued focus on run consistency off the bike could help him close the gap to the podium in future editions.
