Bike Strength Anchors a Balanced Olympic Debut At just 15 years old, Dru Rodriguez delivered a well-rounded performance at the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon, crossing the line in 3:01:08 among a field of 1,987 athletes. His bike leg stood out as the highlight, averaging roughly 19.2 mph over the course. Split data revealed strong surges, including a stretch at a 2:46/mile pace, while other segments slowed closer to 3:35/mile suggesting an opportunity to even out effort across the rides varying terrain. Dru exited the swim in 26:02 and moved through T1 in under eight minutes, setting up his bike effort well. The run proved to be the toughest leg of the day, with Dru covering 6.29 miles at an 11:17/mile pace to close out the race. Given the strength he showed on the bike, building run durability could be a great next step to unlock even faster overall results. A promising showing for a young athlete tackling Olympic-distance racing.
