Strong Bike Split Anchors a Steady Olympic-Distance Finish Carter Walker turned in a well-rounded performance, highlighted by a bike leg averaging roughly 21.3 mph over the 24-mile course. After a swim near the 20-minute mark, he settled into a rhythm on the bike, steadily climbing through the fieldmoving from outside the top 150 early on to inside the top 60 by the final bike splits, with several stretches clocked in the 2:392:44/mile range. That surge carried into the run, where he held a mid-8:00s per mile pace to close out the race in 2:30:38, good for 8th in his 19-24 age group. Compared to his 2025 Spudman outing, this year's overall time came in about eight minutes slower, with his gender placement shifting from 90th to 71st out of a much larger field. Transitions remained efficient, with T2 in under two and a half minutes. Sharpening the run split slightly, especially in the middle miles, could help him close the gap to his previous personal best time.
