Early Speed in the Water Sets the Tone for a Determined Sprint Effort Davie Dent, an 11-year-old racing out of Sandy, Utah, opened her Spudman Sprint Triathlon with an impressive swim, climbing to 57th overall and 24th among all female athletes exiting the water a strong showing for her age group. That early positioning gave her a solid foundation heading into the bike leg, where she maintained a steady pace of just under 12 mph across the course. The transitions and run proved to be areas where time slipped away, as her overall position dropped through T1 and again in the run split. Still, Davie crossed the finish line with a respectable overall time, placing 36th in her division. For a young athlete tackling this distance, her swim performance stands out as the highlight of the day, and sharpening transition efficiency could be a great focus for future races.
