Blistering Bike Leg Fuels Major Year-Over-Year Breakthrough Sophie Updike shaved over 11 minutes off her previous Spudman finish, crossing in 2:39:27 compared to last year's 2:50:56. That improvement translated to a massive jump in the standings from 608th overall to 154th, and from 11th to 3rd in the 19-24 age group. The bike leg was the standout segment, with Sophie averaging roughly 29.3 mph and briefly holding the overall race lead at the mile 24 mark. Both transitions were efficient, with T1 at 3:11 and T2 at 4:33. The run started strong out of transition but slowed in the middle miles, dropping her from 1st to 2nd in her division before she rallied over the final stretch to secure a 3rd-place division finish. The swim came in at 25:21, rounding out a well-balanced day that showed significant growth from last year's result.
