Strong Bike Legs, Fading Run Finish Steven opened with a steady 23:30 swim before settling into a strong bike leg, averaging roughly 15.6 mph over the 24-mile course. That effort moved him into the top 15 of his 55-59 age division through most of the ride, with quick, efficient transitions in T1 and T2 helping maintain momentum into the run. The run proved to be the tougher half of the day, with pacing sliding from the mid-13-minute range early on to nearly 14:00/mile by the final miles before a late surge to the finish. Steven crossed the line in 3:25:57, placing 24th in his age group and 745th among 745 male finishers overall. Compared to his 2025 Spudman finish of 3:05:28, this year's race came in about 20 minutes slower a gap almost entirely tied to the run split, suggesting run endurance could be a strong focus for future training blocks.
