Strong Bike Surge Highlights a Solid Season Rebound Rodney Washburn crossed the finish line at the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon in 3:29:48, a notable rebound from his 2025 result of 3:47:57. He shaved nearly 18 minutes off last year's time, climbing from 1339th to 1005th overall out of 1987 finishers and improving his 50-54 age-group placement from 63rd to 41st. He's still working to close the gap on his standout 2023 performance (2:43:41), but the progress this year shows a clear step in the right direction. His swim (23:35) and T1 (4:43) were consistent, setting up a strong bike leg where he averaged roughly 17.6 mph over 24.4 miles good enough to move up to 267th among men mid-ride. That momentum faded on the run, though, as he dropped from 515th to 1005th overall by the finish. Building more run strength could help him fully capitalize on the gains he's making on the bike.
