Strong Bike Leg Fuels a Steady Climb Through the Field Katie John delivered a well-balanced Olympic-distance performance at Spudman, anchored by a standout bike leg. Covering the ride in 1:26:28, she averaged roughly 16.9 mph, a split strong enough to move her from 179th to 108th among female finishers by the time she hit T2. Her transitions were quick and efficient, setting up a solid 56:45 run that continued her upward trajectory through the field. That consistency carried her to 407th overall out of 1,987 finishers, 68th among women, and 14th in the competitive 35-39 age group. Notably, she gained ground in nearly every segment after the swim, climbing steadily from a mid-pack position early on to a strong top-15 divisional finish by the final mile. A well-executed race from start to finish.
