Podium-Pace Swim Fuels Career-Best Placement Rich Shelley posted his strongest overall placement in three trips to this race, finishing 77th overall and 7th in the men's 50-54 divisionboth his best results to date. The highlight was his swim, which ranked 2nd in his age group and 34th overall out of nearly 2,000 finishers, a clear strength worth building on. On the bike, Rich averaged roughly 20.3 mph, moving efficiently through the course and holding a top-40 pace among the full field. His run settled into a steady rhythm, sitting between 8:55 and 9:10 per mile over the closing miles. While his 2:31:18 finish trailed his fastest Spudman time from 2024 by a few minutes, this year's placement outpaced both previous efforts, a sign of a stronger, more competitive field. Transitions were sharp and consistent, rounding out a well-balanced day.
