A Resilient Finish Despite a Tougher Day on the Run Melanie Oakey completed the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon in Burley, Idaho, finishing 386th among women and 23rd in the Elite Women division. Her bike leg featured a strong mid-course push, holding roughly 15 mph through one stretch, before settling into a steady overall pace near 13.2 mph for the ride. Transitions were efficient, keeping her moving smoothly between disciplines. The run proved the most challenging segment, with her per-mile pace gradually slowing over the final miles. Compared to her 2022 and 2023 Spudman finishes, this year's overall time was notably longer, suggesting an opportunity to focus on run endurance and pacing consistency in future training blocks. Her ability to maintain strong bike segments shows a solid aerobic base to build from as she looks to sharpen her run performance for next season.
