Fast Start in the Water Sets the Tone for a Determined Olympic Finish Hyrum Knighton opened his race with a standout swim, finishing 139th overall and 5th in his division out of the wateran excellent showing that put him well ahead of the field early on. That strong current-aided swim gave him solid positioning heading into the bike leg, where he averaged roughly 15.3 mph over the 24.5-mile course, a steady if unspectacular pace that saw his overall placing slip as the race progressed. The run proved to be the toughest stretch of the day, with his pace gradually settling into the 12-minute range per mile over the final 10K. Knighton crossed the line in 3:19:14, finishing 861st overall and 19th in the 1-19 Male division. His swim performance stands out as the highlight of the day, and building bike and run endurance to match that early speed could be a good focus for future races.
