Bike Splits Show a Strong Second-Half Surge Ellery opened with a 24:32 swim before a brisk 3:56 transition into the bike leg. The 24-mile ride was completed in 1:35:35, averaging roughly 15.3 mph, but the real story was the negative split: early bike segments hovered near 14 mph, while the closing miles picked up to paces near 17 mph, a strong sign of building bike fitness as the ride progressed. A quick 3:30 T2 led into the run, where the pacing told the opposite story. Early run splits came in near 10:3010:50 per mile before gradually settling into the 12:0012:30 range over the final miles. Closing in 3:17:58 for the Olympic distance, Ellerys day showed a clear pattern building strength on the bike and a fade in the back half of the run, a useful data point for future pacing strategy.
