Bike Strength Fuels Solid Finish, Late Run Fade Costs a Few Spots Lincoln Foess completed the Olympic distance at Spudman in 2:42:25, placing 197th out of 1,987 overall and 5th in the 1-19 Solo Male division. His bike leg was the standout segment, covering the course at roughly 19.2 mph and holding a steady 3rd-place divisional rank through nearly the entire ride a strong showing that built a solid foundation for the rest of the race. The run told a different story. Lincoln opened with an 8:53 mile, good enough for 3rd in his division, but pace steadily slipped through the middle and later miles, bottoming out near 10:10/mile before the finish. That fade dropped him from 3rd to 5th in his age group by race's end. Sharpening run pacing and building late-race endurance could help him hold position when it matters most in future events.
