Strong Swim Sets the Tone for a Solid Olympic-Distance Finish Ryan posted a swift 19:24 swim across the Snake River, good for 5th in his age group, showing that his swim training is paying dividends. He transitioned into a bike leg where he averaged roughly 17.3 mph over the course, holding a steady effort through the middle miles before finishing strong. Ryan then moved into the run and settled into a pace in the low 8-minute-mile range, closing out the race with consistent effort down the stretch. Compared to his 2025 Spudman result, Ryan's overall time was about nine minutes slower this year, yet he actually climbed the leaderboardimproving from 236th to 188th overall and from 21st to 16th in his 40-44 division. This suggests his relative performance against the field was even stronger this time out. Building on that early swim speed with continued bike and run consistency could help him close the gap even further next season.
