Strong Swim Sets the Tone, Bike and Run Hold Steady Ethan opened with a strong 20:00 swim, splitting the field to rank 135th among men and just 12th in his 19-24 age groupan excellent start showing real strength in the water. He carried that momentum into a well-paced bike leg, averaging roughly 18.6 mph over the course, moving up to 192nd among men by the bike dismount. The run proved tougher, settling into an 8:53/mile average that gradually slipped through the closing miles, ultimately finishing 173rd among men and 15th in his division. Compared to his 2023 Spudman finish, this race came in about 25 minutes slower overall, with the run split standing out as the area where the most time was lost relative to his prior result. Building run endurance late in the race could help him close the gap on his previous personal best.
