Steady Pacing Fuels a Strong Age-Group Finish Stephen Sherwood completed the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon in 3:06:06, finishing 32nd in the competitive 50-54 age group a notable jump from 55th in his 2025 division finish. His swim was efficient and put him in solid position exiting the water, while his bike leg averaged roughly 17.4 mph over the course, showing strong, consistent power output through the ride. The run leg proved to be the most demanding segment of his day, with pacing gradually settling into the 10:50-11:30 min/mile range over the closing miles. While his overall time was about ten minutes slower than his 2025 result, Stephen's improved age-group placement shows meaningful progress in a deeper, more competitive field. Sharpening run pacing in the final third of the course could be a productive focus for future training blocks.
