A Strong Start Fades Through the Bike and Run Jason opened his 2026 Spudman with a solid swim, clocking 18:47 for the 0.61-mile course and moving into the 150s in his gender field. He carried that momentum onto the bike, holding pace in the low 13 mph range through the first half of the 12.45-mile ride, but lost ground in the back half, slipping from 43rd to 138th in his gender group by the bikes end. The run continued that late-race fade, with his pace easing from an early 14:01/mile split to just over 13 min/mile by the finish, dropping him to 162nd among men overall. Compared to his 2022 (1:40:40) and 2023 (1:49:03) finishes here, this years 2:11:37 marks a step back worth revisiting bike pacing and run consistency in training before his next start.
