Bike Strength Anchors a Determined Olympic Finish Heather Bowen completed her second Spudman Olympic Triathlon, finishing in a field of nearly 2,000 athletes. Her bike leg stood out as the highlight of the day, averaging roughly 16.6 mph overall, with a standout mid-ride stretch covering over 14 miles at close to 17.7 mph a clear sign of strong cycling fitness and pacing control on two wheels. Compared to her 2022 Spudman performance, this year's overall time was slower, reflecting either a tougher day or a shift in focus across the three disciplines. The run and swim segments trailed her bike split in relative strength, suggesting that continued work on transitions and off-the-bike run pacing could help her close the gap between her cycling power and overall results.
