Race Recap powered by Laurel Intelligence

Date: July 25, 2026 Participant: Michael Gremillion #4101 Race: 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon Event: Olympic Triathlon Weather: Hot, but otherwise a great day for a triathlon.

Major Breakthrough Performance Shaves Nearly 19 Minutes Off Previous Olympic Finish Michael turned in a strong all-around effort, finishing in 2:30:43 and climbing to 73rd overall among 1,987 finishers, with a 10th-place showing in the competitive 35-39 age group. His swim (19:54) and transitions were efficient, but the bike leg stood out as the highlight of the day covering the course at roughly 20.7 mph, a pace that vaulted him into the top 20-45 range across multiple bike splits before settling into 73rd by T2. The run (55:17) rounded out a well-balanced race, holding a consistent low-9:00 pace per mile through the final miles. Compared to his 2022 Spudman result, this is a significant leap forward: Michael cut his overall time by nearly 19 minutes, jumping from 355th to 73rd in his gender category and from 490th to 75th overall out of a similarly sized field. The bike split in particular reflects meaningful gains in fitness and pacing strategy since his last outing on this course. Continuing to build durability off the bike could help him close the gap even further between his strong cycling splits and run splits in future races.
