Steady Pacing Delivers a Strong Age-Group Finish Sylvia McCord turned in a well-rounded performance at the 2026 Spudman Sprint Triathlon, finishing 78th among 570 women and 6th in the competitive 50-59 age division. Her swim was solid, putting her inside the top third of her age group exiting the water, and she carried that momentum onto the bike, where she averaged roughly 15.2 mph overall with a standout mid-ride stretch that pushed past 17 mph, one of the strongest segments of her race. Coming off the bike, Sylvia settled into a steady run rhythm that held her position through the final miles, closing out a strong top-10 age-group finish. Given the strength she showed on two wheels, there's an opportunity to translate more of that speed into the run leg some focused work on quick-turnover efforts right off the bike could help her carry more momentum into the opening run miles next time out.
