Strong Bike Split Powers Teen to Runner-Up Age Group Finish Lucy McKnight, 16, of Orem, UT, delivered an impressive performance at the 2026 Spudman Sprint Triathlon, finishing 36th overall out of 570 and 2nd in the 1-19 Female division. Her bike leg was the standout segment, covering the course at an average speed of roughly 27.6 mph, a split strong enough to rank 8th among all female competitors. She built on that momentum through the run, steadily climbing the fieldmoving from 43rd to 36th overall in the final mileswhile holding a pace in the 7:30s per mile. McKnight's swim (16:26) and transitions were solid, though her T1 (5:47) ran a bit long relative to her overall pace and offers a spot to gain time in future races. Her run negative-split nicely over the back half, a great sign of pacing discipline and fitness. Overall, a well-rounded result highlighted by elite-level bike power for her age group.
