Strong Bike Surge Highlights a Hard-Fought Olympic Finish Elizabeth Butler completed the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon in 4:09:05, finishing 400th among women. Her bike leg was a clear highlight, with several segments clocking in the 24-25 mph range, including a strong push through the middle miles that moved her into the top 500 overall on the course. This marked a notable strength in her race, showing solid power and consistency over the bike portion. The swim and run legs presented more difficulty, with her run pace settling into the mid-teens per mile in the later miles, gradually slipping in the standings during the second half of the run. Compared to her 2024 Spudman appearance, where she finished in 3:17:21, this year's overall time reflects a slower race, particularly in the run split. Focusing on maintaining run pace deeper into the race could help Elizabeth better capitalize on the strong bike foundation she's clearly building.
