Powerful Bike Leg Can't Offset a Fading Finish Keith Murdock crossed the line in 3:13:56 at the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon, finishing 763rd overall and 48th in the 45-49 Solo Male division. This result trails his three previous Spudman finishes (2:45:472:57:48), marking his slowest showing at this race to date. The bike leg was the highlight, covering roughly 24.4 miles in 1:17:52 for an average of about 18.8 mph strong enough to vault him from 977th overall after the swim to 324th by the midpoint of the bike course. The run told a different story, starting near a 10:39/mile pace off the bike before steadily slipping to 13:39/mile and settling around 12:00/mile late in the course. Shoring up run endurance to better match his cycling strength could help him close the gap between bike and run splits in future events.
