A Strong Start Gives Way to a Grueling Run Traegan Murdock began his 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon with an efficient 21:40 swim, benefiting from the Snake River's current before settling into a steady bike leg. He averaged roughly 17.2 mph across the bike course, maintaining a consistent rhythm through the race's midpoint. The run leg told a different story. Early miles clipped along near a 12:49 pace, but the effort gradually slowed to over 16:00 per mile by the final stretch, pushing his finish time to 3:32:49 a jump from his 2:46:17 result at last year's Spudman, where he raced in the non-competitive division. Murdock finished 21st among 1-19 Solo Male athletes this time out, a solid data point for refining run pacing strategy in future Olympic-distance efforts.
