Strong Swim Leg Fuels a Well-Paced Olympic Finish Jason Flinders turned in a standout swim, exiting the water in 18:18 to rank 50th overall and just 4th in his 19-24 age group a clear strength to build on. He carried that momentum onto the bike, holding a brisk 16.6 mph average over the 24.4-mile course, with his fastest stretch coming early (17:45 for 5.6 miles, a 19 mph split). The run settled into a consistent rhythm, averaging around 8:15 per mile, before Flinders closed strong with a final quarter-mile at a 6:08 pace. He finished in 2:46:04, placing 250th overall out of 1,987 and 19th in his division. With a swim this efficient, dialing in bike-to-run transitions (T1 at 6:26) could shave valuable time in future races.
