A Powerful Mid-Bike Surge Highlights a Resilient Olympic Effort Candice turned in a well-managed swim before finding her rhythm on the bike, where she truly shined. During one stretch of nearly 8 miles, she clocked a blistering pace that briefly vaulted her into the top 5 of her division and inside the top 100 women overall a clear sign of strong sustained power, averaging close to 14 mph across the full bike leg on the Snake River course. The run leg proved tougher, with pacing settling into the mid-teens per mile in the later miles, and her total time of 4:01:39 came in about 35 minutes slower than her 2025 Spudman finish. Transitions also stretched a bit longer than ideal, offering a clear target for improvement. Still, that mid-race bike breakout stands out as a genuine highlight a strong foundation to build pacing strategy around for the run in future races.
