Strong Bike Leg Overshadowed by a Late-Race Fade Austin completed the sprint triathlon in 1:58:25, finishing 228th overall out of 570 and 120th in the men's field. His bike leg was a clear highlight, covering the course at roughly 14.85 mph and moving him up to 123rd overall by the bike's end. He also showed a burst of run speed mid-course, climbing as high as 41st overall during a stretch paced near 13:45/mile a strong surge that showed real closing potential. However, that momentum didn't hold: the final run miles slowed to an 18:43 pace, dropping him back to 214th before the finish. Compared to his 2023 Spudman result (1:42:33, 109th overall), this year's time was noticeably slower across the board. Given the strength shown in that mid-run surge, working on maintaining run pace deeper into the race could help translate that speed into a stronger finish next time.
