Strong Bike Surge Propels Steady Olympic Finish Jared Tew turned in a well-rounded Olympic-distance performance, anchored by a standout mid-bike surge where he hit nearly 1920 mph, vaulting from outside the top 470 to as high as 97th overall during that stretch. His transitions were crisp, and his swim kept him in solid position heading onto the bike course, where he clearly found his rhythm and used the back half of the ride to make up significant ground. The run proved more of a grind, with pacing gradually easing from the low 10-minute mile range into the high 11s by the final miles a common trend after a hard-charging bike leg. Overall, Jared finished 399th among men and 69th in his 35-39 division, a race defined by a powerful cycling performance. Building some run durability off the bike could help him convert that strong bike position into an even stronger finish next time.
