Bike Strength Can't Offset a Slower Overall Day Kevin Bunn tackled the 2026 Spudman Sprint Triathlon, finishing 429th overall out of 570 athletes and 205th among men. His race featured a steady swim before settling into a bike leg where he averaged roughly 9.5 mph over about 12.45 miles, showing solid aerobic effort on the course. Transitions were efficient, especially T2, completed in just over two minutes, keeping momentum moving into the run. Compared to his 2025 Spudman finish of 2:25:30, this year's 2:45:27 marks a step back, largely driven by a run leg that slowed to nearly 16 minutes per mile over the final 3.1 miles. With his bike split showing clear strength, Kevin may find gains next season by dedicating more focus to run conditioning to bring his overall time back toward last year's pace.
