Strong Bike Surge Powers a Better Overall Finish Brett Hatch crossed the line in 2:41:19, finishing 190th overall and 164th in his gender field of 1,987 a notable jump from his 2023 Spudman result of 317th overall (out of 1,775) despite a slightly slower elapsed time. His bike leg was the highlight, averaging roughly 20.4 mph over the course, including a standout mid-ride stretch where he clocked a 2:37/mile pace, good enough for 48th overall and 42nd among men at that split his fastest relative segment of the day. The run settled into a steady 9:389:58/mile rhythm, holding position without major fade, while transitions were brisk and efficient. Compared to his 2023 outing, this race showed sharper positioning gains despite the modestly slower overall time, reflecting a deeper, faster field. Sharpening the run pace to match the bike's intensity could be the next step toward closing the gap on the top of his division, where he sits just outside the top four.
