Race Recap powered by Laurel Intelligence

Date: July 25, 2026 Participant: Jack Miller #3204 Race: 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon Event: Olympic Triathlon Weather: Hot, but otherwise a great day for a triathlon.

Fast Bike Surge Undone by a Fading Finish Racing the Olympic-distance field, this 16-year-old from Idaho Falls posted a 23:59 swim, then moved through transitions in 6:42 and 3:28. The bike was the highlight: over the 24.39-mile course he averaged roughly 14.8 mph, punctuated by a blistering mid-ride stretch where he hit nearly 16.4 mph, briefly climbing to 10th in his division. That surge didn't hold pace dipped over the final miles before T2, settling him back near 20th by the bike's end. The run started strong with a 9:53 opening mile, but pace steadily slipped into the 13:0015:00/mile range over the final miles, closing in 1:15:56. Final time of 3:32:06 placed him 20th among 1-19 Solo Males and 783rd of 1987 finishers about 19 minutes slower than his 3:12:58 finish the previous year. The mid-bike power is clearly there; carrying that strength into a more consistent run could unlock a faster overall result.
