Steady Swim and Strong Bike Set the Stage for a Solid Olympic Finish Rich Gremillion opened his race with a clean, efficient swim, exiting the water in good position within his field. A quick transition led into a bike leg where he averaged roughly 17.7 mph over the nearly 24-mile course a strong, consistent effort that carried him steadily forward through the ride. The run told a different story. Rich started strong, holding just under 12-minute pace through the first mile off the bike, but the effort gradually cost him as the run progressed, with per-mile pace slipping into the 12:4513:00 range in the middle miles before rallying slightly to the finish. Given the strength of his swim and bike legs, working on maintaining run pace deeper into the race could help him close out future Olympic-distance events with more consistency. Overall, a well-rounded performance capped off in 3:07:40.
