Race Recap powered by Laurel Intelligence

Date: July 25, 2026 Participant: Chris Curtis #9109 Race: 2026 Spudman Sprint Triathlon Event: Sprint Triathlon Weather: Hot, but otherwise a great day for a triathlon.

Strong Bike Split Powers a Top-25 Sprint Finish Chris turned in a well-rounded sprint triathlon performance, finishing 25th overall and 20th among men in a field of 570, while placing 4th in the competitive 40-49 age group. The standout of the day was the bike leg, where Chris averaged nearly 18 mph, a segment strong enough to move up several overall placements and set the tone for the rest of the race. Transitions were sharp and efficient, and the run leg showed solid pacing control through the final miles, holding position in the top 25 overall. Compared to last years Spudman sprint, this years overall time was a bit slower, suggesting there may be opportunity to fine-tune swim efficiency or shave time in transitions to close that gap. Overall, a strong, well-executed race with a clear bike strength to build on for next season.
