Steady Bike Split Powers a Strong Return to Form James Winfield turned in a 2:40:22 finish, good for 174th overall out of 1,987 and 18th in the Elite Men division. His swim came in at 22:05, followed by a smooth transition into a bike leg that showed real strength averaging roughly 19.7 mph across the course and steadily climbing the field standings, moving from 441st early on to as high as 78th by the final bike segment. That bike effort set up a 53:16 run to close out the day. Compared to his Spudman history, this result marks a solid improvement over his 2:51:03 (2022) and 2:32:28 (2024) efforts, though it trails his standout 2:22:28 performance in 2023. The bike leg was clearly the highlight this time around, and tightening the run split back toward his 2023 pace could be the key to challenging that personal best again.
