Strong Bike Split Fuels a Steady Sprint Finish Lee Winfield turned in a well-paced sprint triathlon, highlighted by a bike leg where he averaged roughly 13 mph over the course, moving him up significantly in the standings during that segment. He exited the water in the 200s overall and used the bike to climb into the 180s before transitioning into the run. The run told an interesting story Lee found a strong gear early, dropping into the 5-41 range for mens overall place during a mid-run split with a notable sub-14:30 pace per mile, one of the better stretches of his race. However, pace faded in the closing miles, settling back near 16:30-16:47 per mile through the finish. Overall, Lee finished 337th out of 570 and 31st in the 40-49 Male Sprint division. Building endurance to sustain that early run intensity through the final miles could be a great focus for future training.
