Bike Strength Anchors a Steady Olympic Finish Lauren Willets completed the Olympic-distance course in 3:30:31, finishing 247th among 987 women and 36th in the competitive 30-34 division. Her standout segment was the bike, covering 25.36 miles at roughly 17.7 mph the fastest relative split of her race. That leg alone vaulted her from 366th to 158th among women, the largest positional gain of her day and a clear sign of strong cycling fitness. A 29:33 swim got things moving, and quick transitions kept her in good position heading onto the run. However, she gave back ground during the run, slipping from 176th to 247th by the finish. With such a powerful bike leg already in place, dedicating focus to building run durability off the bike could help her convert that cycling strength into an even stronger overall finish next time.
