A Step Back From Last Year's Strong Pace David Walker completed the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon in 3:41:34, finishing 1161st overall and 858th among men. This marks a notable step back from his 2025 result of 2:58:21, when he placed 754th overall and 595th in his gender category. The swim and bike legs showed some slowdown, but the run split was where the biggest gap emerged compared to last years pace. On the bike, David averaged roughly 15.8 mph over the course, a respectable effort that kept him within striking distance of the front half of the field through T2. The run, however, proved to be the toughest segment of the day, with his pace dropping well below his 2025 rate. Moving forward, incorporating brick workouts and run-specific endurance training could help him close that gap and return closer to his previous form.
