Steady Bike Power Fuels a Solid Olympic-Distance Finish Darren Kinder completed the Olympic distance with a total time of 3:14:18, finishing 772nd overall out of 1,987 and 18th in the competitive 60-64 age group. His swim leg came in at 29:39, followed by a strong transition into the bike course, where he covered roughly 24.4 miles in 1:20:02 an average speed of about 18.3 mph, a clear high point of his day and a pace that moved him up significantly in the field, climbing as high as 11th in his division during the ride. The run leg, covering about 6.2 miles, was completed in 1:13:10, averaging close to 11:47 per mile. This was a bit off the pace he held on the bike, suggesting his run fitness could be a focus area moving forward. Compared to his 2025 Spudman finish of 3:01:35, this year's time was about 13 minutes slower, with the shift in overall pace largely tied to the run segment. Darren's bike strength remains a clear asset to build around for future races.
