Bike Strength Fuels a Steady Olympic-Distance Finish Bill completed the Olympic-distance race in 2:59:34, placing 485th overall and 5th in the 65-69 age group. His swim came in at 26:02, but the bike leg was the standout of the day 1:17:03 at roughly 19.0 mph, a stretch strong enough to carry him from 986th overall after the swim up to 533rd by the time he racked his bike, passing hundreds of competitors along the way. T1 took 8:54, noticeably longer than his other transitions and an area worth tightening up before future races, while T2 was much crisper at 3:14. The 1:04:23 run rounded out a consistent overall effort. This result is a step down in time from his 2:40:34 finish in 2022 and 2:41:18 in 2023, though it's worth noting Bill has since aged up into the 65-69 division after racing 60-64 in those previous years.
