Bike Speed Surges While Overall Time Slips Gwen turned in a strong bike leg at this year's Olympic-distance Spudman, averaging roughly 13 mph across the 24-mile course a noticeable jump in effort compared to her steady pacing elsewhere on the course. The swim and transitions were handled efficiently, setting her up well heading onto the bike, where she clearly found her rhythm and pushed the pace. The run proved more challenging pacing-wise, with her mile splits gradually settling into the mid-teens per mile by the later miles, contributing to a final time of 4:09:08 a bit off her 2025 Spudman finish of 3:51:19. Still, she continues to compete consistently in the 19-24 age division at this event, finishing 29th in both her last two Olympic-distance appearances here. Building more run endurance off the bike could help her close the gap on that overall time next year.
